Job Summary

The Business Development Manager, under the direction of the President, is primarily responsible for sourcing and building key customer relationships with both existing and new clients. The Business Development Manager is expected to increase sales opportunities, close sales and maximize revenue. This role will also manage existing clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction in an effort to both increase and retain business. Cold-calling/Prospecting is expected within a defined market or geographic area to ensure continual opportunities for business growth.

Expected Results: To deliver exceptional sales opportunities, close sales and build genuine relationships with clients all in an effort to significantly increase corporate revenues while being helpful to coworkers and holding oneself accountable for results.

Primary Duties

Develop and maintain business growth strategy

  • Conduct research and consult with the senior management team on business trends, new opportunities and competitor activities to develop effective strategies; campaigns or new services/products, including new course titles
  • Author and present semi-annual marketing strategies (with budgets)  to senior management and our advisory board
  • Stay up-to-date on the company’s current product and service offerings unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Produce and execute a strategy to achieve the sales targets
  • Co-manage the creation and maintenance of our semi-annual course calendars to ensure that the fulfillment of customer and regional needs is maximized

Develop, submit and track proposals or quotations

  • Monitor all opportunities for proposals or quotations from multiple sources (via customers, MERX etc.) and manage the execution of submissions
  • Routine follow-up on outstanding proposals and maximize success ratio (bids out versus accepted)
  • Submit accurate weekly progress/sales reports

Develop and maintain marketing and promotional activities

  • Prepare and distribute timely promotional flyers for the insertion into all student course manuals
  • Communicate to customers new products and services
  • Attend industry functions, conferences or trade shows and plan and execute coordinated marketing road trips to visit clients
  • Management of all Social Media/ initiatives (including Web Site) to ensure information is current, accurate and effective
  • Maintain the WWOTC website
  • Develop new social media strategies to incorporate emerging or trending distribution technologies (Face Book, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Manage the creation and distribution of all printed marketing materials

Develop and maintain positive customer relationships

  • Build key customer relationships with new and existing clients
  • Manage existing clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction and retain business
  • Cold-call within a defined market or geographic area to ensure continual opportunities for business growth

Other Duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of sales experience in a service related industry
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning, and implementation skills
  • Ability to create realistic schedules and meet deadlines under stress and interruptions
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills

Operator Certification System

Incumbent must be able to develop a thorough understanding of Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment and Climate Control’s Operator Certification system:

Work Conditions
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Overtime as required
