Fire Hydrant and Valve – Operation, Inspection, Maintenance, and Installation (WD-98-HO):

The objective of this one-day course is to provide participants with training on how to inspect, repair and manner in compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation. Opportunities for hands-on application have been included to maximize learning and retention.

What will be covered:

  • Regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Inspection, installation, and repair of fire hydrants (McAvity, AVL & Century)
  • Inspection, installation, and repair of valves
  • Safe work practices
  • Hands-on training will cover:
    • Maintenance and normal operations for both fire hydrants and valves
    • Minor repairs including replacement of gaskets, nozzles, O rings, main valves, valve stems 7 spider couplings, breaking flanges etc.
    • Correct use of grease (including samples)
    • Repairs to non-rising stem gate valves, including bold and bonnet replacement, packing replacement etc.
    • Fire hydrant inspection to Fire Code

CEUs/Renewal Credits: 0.7 (7 Hours) in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Yukon, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
