Effluent Disinfection (WWT-90-CT):

Disinfection of pathogens in wastewater and water continues to be essential to reduce risks of pathogen exposure and waterborne diseases of humans and animals. Municipal raw sewage may contain viral, bacterial and protozoan pathogens. Therefore, it is necessary that wastewater treatment processes be effective in removing or destroying these pathogens before the resulting effluents and residuals are returned to the environment.
