Analysing Operational Parameters for Water Treatment (WT-93-CT):

This course has been designed with water distribution and treatment operators in mind. It will focus on tests at drinking water systems that do not require drinking water testing licenses. We will look at the chemistry of water and why an understanding of chemistry is so important to the water treatment process. This course will help operators to understand the basic chemistry of water, common contaminants, and how to perform water analysis and testing, giving them the confidence to interpret results and manage the process.

What will be covered:

  • Parameters operators monitor closely and why
  • Hands on testing for parameters such as (equipment dependent): alkalinity, aluminum, ammonia, chloramines, chloride, chlorine dioxide, colour, copper, dissolved organic carbon, flouride, free chlorine residual, free chlorine residual and total chlorine residual (measured for the purpose of finding the combined chlorine residual), hardness, iron, manganese, methane, odour, organic nitrogen, ozone, pH, sulphate, sulphide, taste, temperature, total dissolved solids, turbidity, zinc
