Corey started his career in the water and wastewater industry in 2008, as a Water, Fuels, and Environmental Technician (WFE Tech) with the Canadian Forces. During his time in the Forces, he was posted to CFB’s Gagetown, Borden, and Kingston. Each base had its own unique system. This resulted in him learning about many different treatment processes and technologies. The experience in the field was complimented with a comprehensive training program at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (CFSME). Corey obtained his qualification levels 3 (apprentice) and 5 (journeyman).

In 2014, Corey decided to seek opportunities outside of the military. He was offered a position as a water and wastewater treatment plant operator with the City of Quinte West and released honourably from the Canadian Forces to accept the job. While with Quinte West, Corey was responsible for the operation and maintenance of many different water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as the City’s sewage lift stations and water pressure/chlorine booster stations.

Corey was recruited in 2019 by the Department of National Defence, to supervise the civilian WFE section for CFB Trenton. He leads a team of 5 civilian WFE techs and anywhere from 1 to 3 military WFE techs. The military WFE techs are apprentices and join the section to gain the experience they require to become journeymen. The WFE section is responsible for water distribution and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment, bulk aircraft POL, commercial swimming pools, and HAZMAT response for CFB’s Trenton and Mountainview.

Corey is very excited to join WWOTC and share the knowledge and skills he has developed during his career.
